Adoption Process
We partner with Amador County Animal Control and are continuously looking for special dogs. When we find a dog that we think will be great at giving someone emotional support, we pull them! We board and train them at Blue Collar K9 and help build their confidence and give them skills to help in their future home. From there, we either keep them at Blue Collar K9 until we find a foster or a forever home. If we have someone reach out in search of a companion, we will then evaluate their needs and find them the perfect shelter dog. Depending on how much training has been done depends on the price of the dog. The adoption fee allows for us to continue adopting dogs from the shelter and providing them training. It also helps us to provide food, toys and bedding for every dog we pull. The adoption fee ranges from $200 - $500 and allows us to continue our mission of helping heal our heroes.
Continuing Support
After an adoption, we continue to support the new best friends. We offer a private lesson with Tim Guzman at Blue Collar K9 completely free of charge. In this lesson he will go over what training needs to be done to meet your needs. If the dog was at Blue Collar K9, this lesson will be dedicated to showing off the skills of your new furry friend. A free group class will also be provided to you. These classes are a fun excursion and create bonding time for you and your dog. We really recommend continuing classes at least twice a month after adoption.
